The prize purse is very small relative to the size of the field; this results in a severe dilution of the available prize pool among those that finish in the money. But hey -- it is a freeroll, and any money that you may win is good money!
Not all online poker freerolls are truly free. Some of the freerolls are open to all registered players and are true freerolls. Other poker freerolls are open to players that have played in a raked game at the online poker site in the past 24 hours, or are open to those in exchange for "points" that the player has earned by playing in raked games at the poker site. These entrance requirments are listed in the table below.

The prizes for finishing well in online poker freerolls are cash, a seat in a weekly or monthly cash freeroll, or a combination of both. I prefer the cash freerolls to the freerolls that are satellites into a weekly or monthly freeroll.

Online poker freerolls tend to fill up rather quickly. My recommendation is that you log into the poker site about an hour and fifteen minutes prior to the start of the feeroll. This way, you will be prepared to register for the freeroll when registartion opens, which is usually about an hour before the scheduled start time.
